President Sahle-Work Zewde arrives in Paris yesterday, June 6, 2019, to attend, as a keynote speaker, at the First ever FIFA Global Women’s Football Convention, ahead of the kick-off of the eighth edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.
Following the invitation from FIFA, in the convention, Hr.E President Sahle-Work Zewde will deliver a key note speech during the Session ‘Change Making and Empowerment through Football’ on the topic – Overcoming Cultural and Social Barriers.
Leaders from the world of football, politics and society will be present in Paris over the two days to discuss various issues on empowerment and development.
The 38-year-old Ethiopian Lydia Tafesse is one of the 27 referees selected to officiate the tournament.
The quadrennial international football championship contested by the women’s national teams of the member associations of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) between 7 June and 7 July 2019.
